The hesitation of engine maker CFM to increase supplies to Airbus due to concerns over its key customer Boeing's situation has influenced Airbus's decision to postpone jet production increases. CFM makes LEAP engines for Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo, competing with Pratt & Whitney. Airbus sought to increase CFM's share of A320neo deliveries, causing delays after CFM's engine deliveries dropped. CFM's strategic position between Boeing and Airbus has become delicate, affecting Airbus's output plans while trying not to disadvantage Boeing.
