EVs Bringing More Headaches to New Owners With Tesla as a Major Factor: J.D. Power Study

Reported 9 months ago

J.D. Power's recent initial quality survey reveals that electric vehicles (EVs) are causing more issues and requiring more severe repairs than traditional vehicles, with EVs averaging 266 problems per 100 vehicles compared to 180 for internal combustion engine vehicles. This marks the first time repair data has been included in the study's 38-year history, and it shows that EVs, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), require more repairs across all categories. The study also notes that Tesla's quality score has worsened, narrowing the gap with other automakers in the EV space. These challenges with EVs, along with other factors like lack of charging infrastructure and high costs, could hinder the growth of EV adoption in the U.S.
