Former Goldman Sachs executive has joined a private equity firm in Tokyo backed by Jack Ma.

Reported 6 months ago

A former executive from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in Japan is set to join Yunfeng Capital, a private equity firm backed by Jack Ma, to oversee real estate investments in Tokyo with a focus on investing 100 billion yen ($636 million) in higher-return value-add and opportunistic property deals. Yunfeng Capital, co-founded by Ma and David Yu, has previously invested in companies such as Wuxi Diagnostic Investment (Cayman) Ltd. and Nayuki Holdings Ltd. The move comes as Japan's real estate market attracts overseas investors due to the weak yen and low borrowing rates, with Ma himself spending time in Japan recently and serving as a guest lecturer at a University of Tokyo research institute.
