Exclusive: Prosecutors Detain Zheng Wen-Can, Chairman of SEF, Suspected of Corruption

Former Taoyuan Mayor and Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Zheng Wen-Can, was suddenly taken away by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office yesterday on suspicion of corruption, and has been detained pending further investigation. The prosecutors have remained silent on the details, but it is reported that Zheng may be involved in a land development case. Zheng, aged 57, with a background in the Wild Lily student movement, is considered one of the most active middle-generation figures in the DPP. The case has shocked the public and more information is expected to be disclosed after the court hearing.
