On June 30, 2024, the Kaohsiung MRT RK1 Gangshan Station commenced trial operations with President Lai in attendance, emphasizing the importance of transportation infrastructure for progress and prosperity in cities. The inaugural ride was joined by the public, expressing anticipation for more convenient travel between Gangshan and downtown Kaohsiung. The new section extends the Red Line by 1.46 km towards Gangshan Railway Station, with plans for further extension north to other areas. This development aims to benefit 350,000 residents and connect four major technology parks, showcasing the city's future progress and development.
