On June 13, 2024, police handed over drivers surnamed Lin and Zhang to the authorities. 44-year-old Zhang and 50-year-old Lin from New Taipei City met a Chinese beauty on a dating app and agreed to help retrieve stolen money as unpaid drivers for almost a month, only to never meet the woman. When arrested, the men complained to the police that they were also victims of love fraud. A 41-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were among the four accomplices detained. Chen from New Taipei City was scammed of 5.6 million NTD through a stock message group scam. The men confessed to joining the fraud group as drivers due to love, having met a Chinese beauty online, not realizing they were caught up in a scam.
