Former KMT Central Standing Committee member Fan Chenglian and New Taipei City Liaison Office head Wang Zengji were sentenced by the Hsinchu District Court for purchasing signatures for Foxconn founder Guo Taiming's presidential campaign. Fan received 4 years in prison and a fine of NT$4 million, while Wang received 1 year and 8 months in prison, a fine of NT$1.8 million, and a 5-year probation. The court found that Fan and Wang committed bribery by acquiring signatures in an attempt to undermine the integrity of the presidential campaign, violating election laws and damaging democratic processes.
