In the early hours of June 13th, a tragic fire broke out in a residential house on Yanshou Road in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, due to a lithium battery explosion during charging, resulting in 3 deaths. In response, Taiwan Power Utility's fan page advises on the dangers of charging lithium batteries for devices such as phones and tablets, emphasizing safety precautions like avoiding charging unsupervised or while sleeping, keeping devices away from flammable materials, and using original charging cables. They warn against continued charging if abnormalities like battery swelling or strange odors occur and stress the importance of keeping lithium batteries away from heat sources to prevent overheating.
