The FBI has successfully dismantled a massive botnet consisting of 19 million infected computers, possibly the largest in the world, that was being leased to cybercriminals for various illegal activities. The botnet, spread across over 190 countries, facilitated financial fraud, identity theft, child exploitation, bomb threats, and cyberattacks, resulting in significant financial losses for victims. The alleged administrator of the botnet, YunHe Wang, a Chinese citizen, was arrested in Singapore, with the US seeking his extradition. The operation, named Operation Tunnel Rat, also led to the seizure of luxury goods, cryptocurrency, real estate, and the execution of search warrants and interviews in Singapore and Thailand for potential additional arrests.
