Finance Minister: Central Government Experiences Additional Expenditure of NT$130 Billion After Streamlining Measures

Reported 8 months ago

Finance Minister, Chu Tzuyun, attended the Finance Committee meeting at the Legislative Yuan on June 18, 2024, and mentioned during an interview before the meeting that after streamlining measures, the central government did not receive an additional NT$150 billion as rumored but faced additional spending of NT$280 billion due to taking on additional responsibilities from provincial governments. This indicates that the central government did not gain extra financial resources post-streamlining but instead had increased expenditures of NT$130 billion. The proposed revision of the Financial Planning Law will consider both fiscal and jurisdictional divisions. It is vital to ascertain the overall financial situation between the central and local governments.
