In the early morning of June 20, 2024, a fire broke out at the famous Chiba Hot Pot chain on Guohua Road in Miaoli City. The fire, initially extinguished around 6 AM, rekindled when fire investigators discovered lingering embers behind the ceiling decoration and quickly spread throughout the restaurant. Firefighters are currently working to save the hundreds of ping-sized store, with no casualties reported. The cause is suspected to be in the kitchen area, and rescue operations are ongoing.
