On June 25, 2024, at 7:48 a.m., a fire occurred at the underground parking lot of Gigastone Optoelectronics, a major optoelectronic factory in the Hsinchu Science Park. Thick smoke suddenly emerged, triggering the factory's alarms, with smoke filling the area. The fire was quickly responded to by multiple fire trucks dispatched by the fire department due to its location in the Hsinchu Science Park. Before the firefighters arrived, many employees used fire extinguishers to help contain the blaze. The cause of the car fire is still under investigation.
