In Hsinchu Science Park on June 25, 2024, at 1:43 p.m., a vehicle self-ignited in the underground parking of Jingyuan Optoelectronics on Lihsin Road. Although the fire was not significant, thick smoke spread at the scene. The Hsinchu Fire Department arrived at 1:51 p.m., and the fire had already been extinguished. All personnel were safely evacuated, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the fire started in the third basement floor from the engine compartment of an employee's imported SUV due to unknown reasons. The fire was contained, but thick smoke filled the area. The firefighters assisted 16 units and a total of 1100 people in a safe evacuation.
