The 'Five Eyes' alliance issued a warning on June 5, alleging that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been recruiting current and retired flight instructors from Western nations to assist in training People's Liberation Army pilots, potentially diminishing the deterrence capability of Western nations against the CCP. The alliance, consisting of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, expressed concerns over CCP's efforts to gain technical knowledge and tactics through these recruits, urging vigilance among countries to prevent severe national security threats. Recent arrests of personnel leaking confidential information to the CCP, as well as discoveries of Western pilots training PLA aviators, have highlighted Western worries over CCP's recruitment efforts.
