Florida Hedge Fund Manager Avoids Arrest in Byju’s Bankruptcy Case

Reported about 1 year ago

A federal judge in Delaware offered to drop an arrest order for Florida hedge fund manager William C. Morton if he assists in locating $533 million allegedly concealed by Indian tech company Byju’s. Byju’s invested loan proceeds with the fund, which were later transferred to a UK lender and a non-US entity. Lenders involved in Byju’s bankruptcy case are attempting to recover the missing cash, with Morton ordered to return to the US and cooperate with the lenders within 10 days. Failure to comply may result in the reinstatement of the arrest order.
