On June 30, 2024, at 7:18 PM, a well-known coffee shop in Taipei, Geolu Coffee, faced a food safety issue after a customer found a live cockroach in their salad during a delivery order, with others reporting incidents of finding metal shards in their meals. Taipei Health Bureau confirmed they will inspect the shop on July 1st. Geolu Coffee, with two branches in Neihu District, is known for long queues during peak hours and holidays. Despite receiving no response from the coffee shop, the Health Bureau plans to impose penalties if food safety violations are found, including fines ranging from 60,000 to 200 million NTD.
