Former Taiwan Affairs Office Chairman Zheng Wencan was accused of accepting a 5 million NT bribe while serving as the mayor of Taoyuan. The court initially set bail at 5 million NT, which was increased to 12 million NT upon appeal with the prosecution resisting. The case revolves around a land development project where landowners sought to profit through rezoning. Despite the bribe in 2017, the project faced setbacks and the money was returned in 2018. The prosecution continues its investigation involving other individuals implicated in the case.
