Former NPP legislator and NTU professor, Cheng Hsiu-ling, announced her withdrawal from the party on June 15 and criticized opposition party legislators for behaving like 'emperors' and obstructing the DPP government. In response, Huang Kuo-chang of the People's Party expressed respect for Cheng and stated the importance of parliamentary reform to prevent anyone from becoming a 'tyrant.' Cheng accused Huang of collaborating with the KMT to hinder government operations under the guise of reform. Huang emphasized the need for effective oversight mechanisms in the Legislative Yuan to uphold democratic checks and balances. Cheng pledged to support civic organizations after exiting the NPP.
