On June 9, a mainland Chinese man drove a speedboat upstream towards the Tamsui River estuary and was subsequently arrested by the Coast Guard at Fisherman's Wharf, revealing his identity as a retired lieutenant commander from the Chinese Communist Party's Liberation Army. The incident raised concerns about loopholes in the Coast Guard's enforcement process, leading to disciplinary actions against 10 individuals. Taipei Mayor Jiang Wan'an commented that the situation was 'a bit exaggerated' and urged the central government to thoroughly review and improve the system in light of this incident.
