Former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller has retired from the NFL at the age of 31 after playing a single season with the New York Giants. Waller informed the Giants of his decision before the start of their minicamp. His retirement was not a surprise, as he had been contemplating it throughout the offseason. The Giants traded for Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders before last season, and his departure opens up salary-cap space for the team while leaving the door open for younger tight ends on the roster.
