In Taiwan, former professor Chen Mingzheng, who operated the Wan Qiaofeng engineering consulting company, was found guilty of falsifying bridge inspection records for Hsinchu County, submitting photos from another company instead of conducting on-site inspections, resulting in a 6-month sentence and a fine of NT$180,000. Chen was also implicated in the South Ao Bridge breakage incident in 2019, where his company obtained inspection contracts through restricted bidding and manipulated the process with internal staff. Despite denying the charges, Chen's appeal was rejected, solidifying his 6-month sentence.
