Former Taoyuan Mayor and current Chairman of the Taiwan Straits Exchange Foundation, Cheng Wen-tsang, was summoned by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for alleged involvement in a corruption case related to bribery in a land expansion project. President Lai Ching-te emphasized that investigations should proceed without bias if any illegal activities are suspected. Cheng Wen-tsang was arrested and later released on bail of 5 million NT dollars. Lai Ching-te further highlighted the importance of combating fraud, eradicating organized crime, and addressing corruption to uphold national development and social stability.
