Former Communist Party Secretary of Tibet, Wu Yingjie, was investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CCP on June 16, 2024. This marks the first time in over 30 years that a high-ranking CCP official in charge of Tibet has been investigated. Wu Yingjie, who previously held the position of Party Secretary in the Tibet Autonomous Region, is currently under disciplinary review and supervision investigation. Wu's lack of promotion after stepping down in October 2021, unlike his predecessors who were promoted to even higher positions, is noted. This is seen as a rare case of a former official managing Tibet but failing to advance in rank.
