In an effort to mitigate the impact of a declining birthrate on pediatric care, the Taiwan National Health Insurance Administration introduced additional subsidies for pediatric intensive care units and hospitalization examination fees for newborns, with an estimated cost of NT$3.38 billion. Starting in July, individuals over the age of 65 and other specified groups who receive pre-established medical care consultation and make advanced medical decisions will be eligible for insurance reimbursement. The policy aims to increase the willingness of doctors to engage in such consultations.
