On July 2, 2024, the Taiwan stock market closed at 22879.37 points, dropping 179.2 points or 0.77% from opening. Notable sectors performing well included green energy, information services, optoelectronics, telecommunications, and electrical machinery. However, other sectors such as electronics, electronic distribution channels, plastics, oil and gas utilities, and home living showed weaknesses. Foxconn and UMC went ex-dividend on the same day, with Foxconn offering a dividend of 5.4 NTD per share and UMC of 3 NTD per share, causing a drop in their stock prices. Despite this, investors capitalized on the opportunity to purchase shares at lower prices, with significant trading volumes recorded for both companies.
