French Authorities Investigate NVIDIA for Antitrust Violations

Reported 12 months ago

Following a sudden raid last year, the French antitrust regulator is considering accusing NVIDIA of violating competition laws, which might make France the first country globally to take legal action against NVIDIA. If found guilty, NVIDIA could face fines of up to 10% of its global revenue. The investigation stems from concerns about monopolistic practices in the AI chip market due to NVIDIA's dominant position with its CUDA programming software. Apart from France, the US, EU, and Chinese governments have also initiated investigations against NVIDIA recently, amid concerns over market dominance in the AI accelerator sector.
