Yahoo Finance correspondent Yeh Yiru reports that Fubon Financial Group (2881) surpassed Cathay Financial (2882) with a record high monthly after-tax net profit of 16.02 billion NTD and a total of 59.43 billion NTD for the first five months of the year, regaining the top spot in the financial group before the shareholders' meeting on Friday. Fubon Financial's May profit had grown by 22%, with an annual increase rate of nearly 132% for the January to May period compared to last year. Its subsidiaries - Fubon Life, Taipei Fubon Bank, and Fubon Securities - also achieved record high profits in May. Fubon Life's profit in May was 11.35 billion NTD, with remarkable growth rates in both monthly and five-month accumulations compared to the same period last year.
