On July 1, 2024, Japan's sacred mountain, Mount Fuji, kicked off this year's climbing season. To regulate the number of visitors, the popular Yoshida Trail in Yamanashi Prefecture now only allows 4000 people per day and requires early registration along with a 2000 yen fee per person to access the mountain. The restrictions aim to reduce overcrowding and maintain the environmental integrity of Mount Fuji during the brief two-month climbing season from July 1 to September 10, attracting around 300,000 visitors annually. Violations of climbing regulations, including disregarding closure orders during winter, have led to accidents and fatalities, prompting authorities to urge climbers to follow the rules to prevent law infringement.
