Two months into the 2024 MLB season, the San Francisco Giants are regretting not aggressively pursuing Japanese star player Shota Imanaga in the offseason. While they unsuccessfully pursued Ohtani and Yamamoto, Imanaga signed with the Cubs. Giants' president Farhan Zaidi cited differences in scouting reports and pitch data evaluation for the hesitancy in signing the now standout pitcher, who currently has a 1.86 ERA with the Cubs and is a strong contender for the NL Cy Young award.
