Government Acts to Tighten Regulations for Green Buildings

Reported 8 months ago

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that starting from July next year, all new buildings in Taiwan must apply for green building volume incentives and obtain building energy efficiency certification. The government is also considering carbon reduction measures for existing buildings, prioritizing public existing buildings for the certification process. By 2026, the goal is to have all public new buildings achieve building energy efficiency level 1 or near-zero carbon buildings, with over 85% of existing buildings being near-zero carbon by 2050. The focus is on reducing carbon emissions in the construction process and during building usage, emphasizing the importance of energy-efficient designs and appliances for achieving net-zero buildings.
