An investigation by the Monitoring Committee revealed that commercially available stair lift chairs are unregulated, posing hidden dangers. Despite complaints about product defects causing harm to children, the relevant authorities such as the National Land Agency, Bureau of Standards, and Social Welfare Department claim they are not responsible due to lack of specific regulations. This lack of supervision has led to a situation where the safety of stair lift chairs is not being effectively managed, with different agencies passing the responsibility back and forth, aptly termed as 'Three Don't Manage'. Calls for government coordination and law amendments to ensure proper regulation and consumer protection have been made.
