Government to Continue Reviewing Eligibility for Multiple Evaluations in Foreign Caregiver Applications

Reported about 1 year ago

A doctor expressed concerns that applications for foreign caregivers might shift from multiple assessments to monetary-based evaluations, requiring additional proofs if not using the Barthel Index. The Labor Development Bureau clarified that from October of last year to April this year, out of the 62,000 approved applications for foreign caregivers, over half—32,000 people—opted for multiple evaluations. The bureau mentioned that discussions with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and medical experts are ongoing to expand the scope of multiple evaluations. The government is considering simplifying the application process for hiring foreign caregivers by not strictly using age as a criterion, but instead focusing on the need for family care, utilizing a multiple assessment approach.
