On July 1, the Committee on Armament Programs and Contracts of the Greek Parliament approved a plan to purchase F-35A fighter jets from the United States. The Greek Ministry of Defense also announced its intention to join the US Constellation-class frigate procurement program to strengthen its naval and air capabilities for regional security. The committee approved a budget of 35.4 billion US dollars for 20 F-35A jets, marking a significant step towards modernizing the Greek Air Force. Defense Minister Dendias proposed joining the US shipbuilding program to simplify the process of modernizing the Greek Navy, potentially building up to 7 specialized versions of frigates in local shipyards. The first frigate could be completed in the early 2030s to enhance Greece's maritime defense capabilities.
