Greek Heatwave Surpasses 40°C, 5 Tourists Dead in June

The recent heatwave in Southern Europe has led to the temporary closure of famous tourist sites like the Acropolis in Athens. Experts advise wearing hats, light-colored clothing, staying hydrated, and using sunscreen when outdoors amidst the rising temperatures and increased risk of heat-related illnesses and fatalities. The local Greek Red Cross coordinator warned that with climate change, heatwaves and heat-related illnesses leading to deaths are becoming more frequent.
