Former Taoyuan mayor and current chairman of the Taiwan Strait Exchange Foundation, Zheng Wen-Can, is suspected of involvement in a corruption case and was summoned by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office. The prosecution believes Zheng may have committed bribery related crimes and has applied for detention. Zheng, through his lawyer, maintains innocence and will cooperate with the investigation to prove his innocence. The Taoyuan District Court is expected to hold a detention hearing later in the day.
