The KP.2 variant is noted for its high transmissibility. Most patients experience mild symptoms such as sore throat, cough, runny nose, and soreness, with a small percentage developing a fever. Vaccination remains the most effective method to reduce the risk of severe illness or death. The CDC urges prompt vaccination as COVID-19 cases, particularly among elderly individuals, continue to rise.
