The Legislative Yuan invited Minister of National Defense Kao Li-hsiung along with Chief of General Staff Mei Chia-shu to report on the planning of the 'Han Guang Exercise 40' and answer questions at the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee. Details of the 4 major training subjects and 3 main components of the exercise were disclosed, marking a rare appearance of the Chief of General Staff at the Legislative Yuan. The exercise this year involves no script and focuses on enemy attacks and beach landing tasks conducted through situation-induced drills. Chief of General Staff Mei expressed willingness to provide explanations to the society regarding non-confidential aspects to enhance public support for the military. Both Minister Kao and Chief of General Staff Mei clarified that the presentation at the legislature would focus solely on the Han Guang Exercise framework and would not involve the disclosure of confidential military information. The exercise aims to verify the joint operational plan's suitability and feasibility in response to increasing military threats from the Communist Party.
