Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) reported a record-breaking peak electricity consumption of 41.18 million kilowatt-hours on the second day of July 2024, surpassing the forecasted peak load of the Ministry of Economic Affairs by almost a month. The scorching weather and anticipation of rainfall have led to a sudden surge in electricity usage, with peak consumption reaching historic highs due to continuous hot temperatures since June. Despite the high demand, Taiwan's power supply remains adequate, with no unexpected power outages reported.
