In Kaohsiung, on June 8, 2024, Mayor of Kaohsiung from the DPP, Chen Chi-mai, discussed the amendment of the finance plan with KMT legislator Ko Chih-en at the traditional dragon boat race in Lin Yuan. The Kaohsiung City Government proposed a fiscal division amendment to expand local coordinated allocation funds, but the KMT's version of calculations showed minimal increases for the DPP-governed Tainan and southern Kaohsiung. Chen Chi-mai expressed concerns about the unfairness of this, stating that adjustments should be made to reflect the population and land size of Kaohsiung compared to Taipei. Ko Chih-en confirmed the discussion on the finance plan and emphasized the need to consider various factors in the formula during the budget committee meeting.
