As of June 24, 2024, Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare reports 460 people sought medical attention for heat injuries due to the ongoing hot weather. With high temperatures expected to persist, heat-related injuries are increasing. Doctors warn that even before heatstroke, the body may already be experiencing heat injuries with symptoms such as edema, heat rash, muscle cramps, and fainting, which if ignored, could lead to an 80% fatality rate. Preventive measures and early recognition of symptoms are crucial to avoiding severe heat-related complications.
