The New York Post reported on June 25, 2024, that a hiker named Lukas McClish got lost in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California for 10 days during a supposed 3-hour trek. McClish survived by drinking a gallon of water from his own shoe each day before being rescued. With no shirt and inadequate supplies, he resorted to eating wild berries and shouting for help. Search efforts intensified after he failed to attend Father's Day dinner. McClish expressed gratitude for his rescuers and the humbling experience.
