Edison, an Italian gas company, plans to increase its liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to better manage fluctuating demand in Italy and Europe. The company has struck a 15-year deal with Shell for 700,000 tonnes of US LNG annually starting in 2028 and aims to replace volumes from expiring pipeline contracts with LNG. Edison is also involved in arbitration with Venture Global over delayed LNG deliveries during the energy crisis. CEO Nicola Monti emphasizes this strategy will enhance flexibility in responding to market needs.
