Danielle Hill from Larne has qualified for the Paris Olympic Games in the 50m freestyle event, setting a new Irish record in the process. She described it as a "bonus" after also securing qualification in the women's 100m backstroke, becoming the first Irish woman to break the one-minute barrier in the event. Hill's achievement marked the highlight of the Irish National Swimming Championships and Olympic Trials in Dublin, where several other swimmers also came close to meeting the Olympic standards in various events.
