Rama Parajuli, a BBC Nepali journalist, reported on June 24, 2024, about the challenging task of retrieving bodies of deceased climbers from the Himalayas, specifically the Lhotse peak. Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa, a guide, encountered a body near the summit and years later was part of a team tasked with clearing bodies from the 'Death Zone' above 8,000 meters. The operation faced difficulties due to altitude, harsh weather, and the need for expensive equipment. The effort aimed to improve safety for climbers and reduce the grisly sights faced by those on the mountain. Sherpa highlighted the physical and emotional toll of the mission but felt it was a way to give back to the mountains that had given him so much in his climbing career.
