Holiday travel, both domestically and internationally, along with consumer spending at department stores, contributed to a significant increase in credit card spending in Taiwan in April, reaching 359.7 billion NTD - an increase of 19.2 billion NTD compared to the previous month and marking a new high for the same period in previous years. With economic activities picking up and changing consumption habits, the total credit card spending is on track to potentially exceed last year's 4.1 trillion NTD. As of April, there are 32 credit card issuing institutions in Taiwan, with approximately 58.97 million cards in circulation and 38.12 million valid cards.
