Hong Kong Democracy Dissolution: July 1st Marches Expected to Disappear for 5 Consecutive Years

Reported 9 months ago

As Hong Kong approaches the 27th anniversary of the handover on July 1st, the pro-democracy forces have largely disintegrated since the enactment of the National Security Law in 2020, with civil human rights fronts dissolved. It is anticipated that the large-scale July 1st marches will cease for the next 5 years. Despite the upcoming significant date, no organization has announced plans for a July 1st march. Chief Executive Carrie Lam cautioned against manipulation of public activities, urging citizens to cherish the current 'safe and stable' environment and celebrate the day with a festive attitude.
