During the 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition protests, 213 people were arrested as they attempted to rescue protesters surrounded by police outside the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. On June 22, 8 men were sentenced to 37 to 50 months in prison by a Hong Kong court for rioting, adding to the 200 individuals already found guilty in the PolyU case. The clashes occurred as protesters tried to support those inside the university, who were trapped during the protests against the extradition bill. Authorities have arrested a total of 213 people in this case, with over 160 already sentenced and 22 awaiting judgments.
