In New Taipei City on June 9, 2024, at 8:45 am, a horse carriage got stuck at a level crossing in Yingge when the barrier came down and trapped the vehicle as a train approached. The driver, in a risky move, accelerated forward, breaking the barrier to escape just in time. The incident, involving a well-known horse stable in Tamsui, was deemed regrettable by the stable owner. A similar incident with a fire truck occurred at the same crossing two years ago, highlighting the need for caution at the location. The driver may face a hefty fine and license suspension for damaging the barrier. An emergency button at the crossing allowed the fire truck to escape previously.
