As the COVID-19 and influenza epidemics hit peak season, a survey conducted by Taipei City Health Bureau on 8 medical centers revealed 291 people awaiting hospitalization and 6 awaiting ICU beds, indicating a shortage of beds in major hospitals. The peak of the COVID-19 epidemic is predicted to arrive in July, while summer flu cases have emerged after 7 years, with 77 severe cases and 10 deaths reported last week. The situation at hospitals varies, with National Taiwan University Hospital almost fully occupied with only 46 beds available for emergency admissions.
