A man surnamed Yang was severely beaten at Taichung Hongen Hospital's Long'an branch, where mentally ill patients, convicts, and socially marginalized individuals are treated. Whistleblowers revealed cases of patients being assaulted, sexually abused, and defrauded within the hospital. Despite receiving government subsidies, the hospital has faced controversy and misconduct. Concerns were raised about the treatment of convicts as well as the hospital's relationship with the judiciary, government, and legislators. Calls for investigation and intervention have been made to prevent further abuse and neglect of marginalized individuals.
